Emerson describes it as the world\u2019s first hybrid gas analyzer certified for hazardous areas.<\/p>\n<h2>What was announced<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The QX1400 uses the same hybrid measurement technologies as the Rosemount\u2122 QX1000: paramagnetic detection for O<sub>2<\/sub> and quantum cascade laser direct absorption spectroscopy for the other gases.<\/li>\n<li>Stated certifications are ATEX II 2G Ex d IIB H2 T4 for Europe and IECEx Ex db IIB+H2 T4 Gb for the rest of the world. Emerson expects North American certification (Class 1, Division 2, Groups B, C, D, T4) by the end of 2026.<\/li>\n<li>Off the shelf, it supports CO, CO<sub>2<\/sub>, O<sub>2<\/sub>, NO, NO<sub>2<\/sub> and SO<sub>2<\/sub>, with configurations typically measuring one to four gases. CH<sub>4<\/sub> and N<sub>2<\/sub>O measurement is also available.<\/li>\n<li>According to Emerson, the certifications allow installation in certain hazardous areas without additional protective measures such as purged enclosures, and in some applications closer to the sampling point.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Why it matters for gas measurement projects<\/h2>\n<p>Emerson highlights O<sub>2<\/sub> measurement in LNG, carbon capture and storage, ethylene purity and hydrogen purity applications, many of which sit in hazardous areas.
